Shared interests, shared impact
Ann’s volunteer work with Court Watch enables her to have a direct impact on the lives of domestic abuse victims. Having volunteers observe and collect data during domestic violence cases helps Court Watch advocate for sensible low-cost changes that result in improved judicial practices and protective orders with fewer gaps.
Court Watch Volunteer Coordinator, Amy Kass explains the critical role of volunteers in Court Watch’s mission: "After years of abuse, many domestic violence victims take a brave step: they come to local courts to seek legal protection. Too often, however, they experience inadequate safety measures, inappropriate demeanor by court staff, and insufficiently trained judges – and these impede their efforts to stop the violence. Court Watch is determined to change that."
Ann finds her volunteer work interesting and valuable and enjoys working alongside her fellow Court Watch volunteers.
